Ubisoft is seemingly booting up its own subscription service, and you best believe fans aren't very happy with it.
Subscription services seem to be all the rage nowadays, as you can hardly move without a company wanting to charge you a monthly fee for enjoying its services, and now it seems to be infecting Assassin’s Creed too.

That’s right, it seems like Ubisoft is following in the footsteps of PlayStation, Xbox, EA, and Rockstar Games as it plans to launch a service based solely on Assassin’s Creed.

Clued up gamers may realise that Ubisoft already has a subscription service, Ubisoft+, but the planned Assassin’s Creed Infinity will reportedly only be for the company’s flagship franchise.
In a thread on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, reports from the leaker j0nathan claimed the service will have a “heavy focus on microtransactions.”
It was also said it’d give players access to old Assassin’s Creed games and potentially new ones, as well as DLC and an exclusive skin/in-game item per month.
Fans weren’t pleased with this rumour, believing it’s an insult to fans and could cause irreversible damage to the company and Assassin’s Creed franchise if left unchecked.

“Would probably damage the AC brand and lose a lot of players, sounds like something Ubisoft would do," wrote one disgruntled fan.
“Are gaming budgets becoming so outrageous that publishers feel like every game needs to be a gigantic live service monstrosity in order to recoup dev costs?” said another.
“Honestly, it's kinda jarring that Ubisoft treats this franchise as like its own Call Of Duty. They honestly need another franchise.”
Of course, take this rumour with a pinch of salt as nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but given the current state of the gaming industry, it certainly isn’t a stretch of the imagination.
