Out of nowhere, it’s been confirmed that a brand new EA studio is working on a single-player Black Panther action-adventure game. Wait, what?
Let's rewind. As revealed in an official press release on the Marvel website, the title is in development at Cliffhanger Games - an AAA studio in Seattle, led by Kevin Stephens (formerly of Monolith Productions). The devs are aiming to create “an expansive and reactive world” for players to run around in as Black Panther, and are partnering with Marvel Games to make sure that they give every aspect the "attention to detail and authenticity that the world of Black Panther deserves".
An untitled Captain America and Black Panther game is also in development right now - take a look at the trailer below.
While details on the game are currently light on the ground, the studio itself sounds very promising. Amongst the staff, there are a number of industry veterans, including some who've been involved with the development of God of War and Call of Duty titles.

"We’re dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game," Stephens said in a statement. "Wakanda is a rich Super Hero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want."
To be clear, this game is totally different from the untitled Captain America and Black Panther game which was confirmed to be in development last year at Skydance New Media, so there's double the amount of Black Panther action to look forward to.
"It’s an incredibly rare opportunity to build a new team around the values of diversity, collaboration, and empowerment," Stephens wrote. "We want our game to enable players to feel what it’s like to be worthy of the Black Panther mantle in unique, story-driven ways, and we want Cliffhanger Games to empower everyone on our team as we collaborate to bring this amazing world to life."
Right now, no release window has been given for the new Black Panther game, so stay tuned for that.
