Right now, the Resident Evil series has never been hotter and Capcom will always be looking at ways to capitalise on its success whether it’s related to previously released games or what’s coming soon.
To be fair, the Resident Evil series has always been massive since its inception in 1996 on the original PlayStation when we took our first trip to the Spencer Mansion and hoped what we saw wasn't Chris’ blood. The series would have a dip in quality in the years that followed and lost much of its survival horror identity but that all changed with the release of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in 2017.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is played in a first-person perspective rather than the traditional third-person. Interestingly, this was the original vision that Capcom intended with the first game in the series but was limited due to the capabilities of that particular console generation.

Sure, we did get some Resident Evil first-person games post-1996 but none were mainline entries like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in 2017. Then in 2019, we were treated to the incredible Resident Evil 2 remake which was followed by a new Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil Village and the Resident Evil 4 remake.
As a lifelong fan of the series, there’s perhaps no better time to be a Resident Evil fan than right now. Given the success of this beloved survival horror series, we know that Capcom will announce Resident Evil 9 at some point but many fans would love to see a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica first.
That being said, before we are treated to a new Resident Evil game, whether it be a remake or a new story, Capcom looks set to re-release a few of its recent classics. In a tweet shared by Twitter user RinoTheBouncer, it’s been claimed that Capcom will be releasing native physical copies of the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes as well as Resident Evil 7: Biohazard following a leak by online retailer Jocurionoi.
All of those three games benefited from a free new-gen update on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Yet unlike Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 remake, they never released native physical PS5 copies. So if you’re a collector of all things Resident Evil and love to buy physical media in this digital age, it looks like you’ll be getting that chance soon.

The rumoured release date for the physical native copies of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is said to be 31 July 2024.
Do take this with a pinch of salt until confirmation is provided by Capcom.
