EA is shutting down 4 games forever this month, say your goodbyes

Wave goodbye to these EA games

The games industry is a tough arena in which to do business or, if you’re a player, to keep hold of the games you love.

Publishers are often having to make difficult decisions about whether a game should be shut down or whether to give it a longer run in the hopes of seeing an improvement in performance.

EA Sports FC is the new name for FIFA and the latest iteration has been well received by fans

This often means that some of the games we love get pulled from storefronts, never to be seen again. This is exactly what’s happening to four mobile games from EA, this month.

The following games will be shut down by EA on May 24th: EA Sports MLB Tap Sport Baseball 2023, F1 Mobile Racing, LOTR: Heroes of Middle-earth, and MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2022.

EA has been closing games and servers in a bid to save money across their catalogue and your favourites aren’t immune. These games, which may not have performed as the publisher wanted, still have caring communities of players who were enjoying the games until now.

This kind of action isn’t limited to EA, many companies are making the tough decision to shut down their games.

The mobile gaming landscape is radically different from its console and PC counterparts. Trends move much faster in the realm of mobile gaming and it’s tough to keep up.

Publishers often have several games receiving support and it can become overwhelming for a workforce to cover each game.

Sadly, these aren’t the only games being closed by EA as they have announced more titles will go later this year including Super Mega Baseball 2 (July 24th), Disney Sorcerers Arena (July 31st), NHL 20 (September 16th), and FIFA 22 (November 4th).

If you want to give these games a try before they disappear forever, now is the time.
