Elden Ring 2 quietly teased as Shadow Of The Erdtree looms

FromSoftware has confirmed Shadow Of The Erdtree will be the only DLC for Elden Ring, though it hasn’t ruled out a sequel just yet.

Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree will take players on a new adventure in the Lands Between, and we’ve done a list of things you might have missed from its first gameplay trailer.

Now in a recent interview with FromSoftware studio head and the father of the Dark Souls series, Hidetaka Miyazaki, it was said Shadow Of The Erdtree will indeed be the first and only DLC made for the game.

It makes sense, considering how big the base game is and how much larger it’s going to get when the DLC drops.

However in a twist I’m sure everybody saw coming, Miyazaki did tease that it might not be the end of Elden Ring’s story, possibly hinting at a full-on sequel one day.

This is something publisher Bandai Namco is keen to see as well, and given the prestige and income Elden Ring has generated since its release it seems like a no-brainer to greenlight a sequel.

Personally I’m of the opinion that Elden Ring doesn’t need a sequel, and after Shadow Of The Erdtree drops they should move on to a new IP.

Whether a sequel is currently in the works or not is unknown at the time of writing, and demand is high for FromSoftware’s next few titles.

Many want a Dark Souls 4, whereas many others are straight-up demanding a remake or sequel to Bloodborne. Only time will tell what the studio has planned.

If you need any more reasons to get hyped for the next chapter of Elden Ring, perhaps this life-size replica of Malenia’s arm will give you a hand, as preorders are open right now.

Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree will drop on 21 June later this year for Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms.
