PlayStation Plus subscribers have last chance to play iconic open-world RPG

Some decisions PlayStation Plus makes has us scratching our heads, and this is one of them.

An iconic RPG that sports stunning visuals and open-world gameplay is leaving PlayStation Plus all too soon.

What’s leaving, we hear you ask – none other than Horizon Zero Dawn.

Seeing as this is one of Sony’s first party title, it seems odd that it would decide to remove it from its services. However, this isn’t the first time this has happened.

Previously, Sony has removed other iconic titles from PS Plus as well, including God of War, Until Dawn, and Uncharted 4.

But there is normally logic in this move.

Some have noticed a pattern, in which PlayStation removes one of its own games because a remaster is on the way.

“Leaving in May just in time for a showcase to announce Horizon PS5,” suggested one player.

Horizon Zero Dawn is already a stunning game, though, which begs the question why it would be getting a remake/remaster in the first place; one Redditor believes they have the answer.

“Because of the TV show that’s coming. It’s the same reason TLOU Part 2 got a remaster along with Part 1’s remake, so both games can feel seamless to play and generate sales from the show,” they reasoned.

Having heard this, others are inclined to agree, citing Bethesda as a recent example of this type of move, “True. Same with Bethesda holding out on the update to time with the TV release.”

Those of you looking to play Horizon Zero Dawn don’t have long; come the 21 May, the game will be removed from PS Plus.

We hope that means a remaster will then we announced, but that’s a speculation fuelled argument at best right now.
