The ever-popular Capcom fighting series Street Fighter recently received its next major entry, Street Fighter 6. It’s been hailed as a phenomenal addition to the series, featuring upgraded combat that’s accessible for newcomers, whilst also retaining the challenge it's been known for.

Take a look at Street Fighter 6 below.

As such, it’s been the chosen game for a variety of casual and professional tournaments, some of which are more memorable than others. However, one such tournament which took place very recently was interrupted during one of its pivotal moments.

Some of the best Street Fighter pros went head-to-head during the 2023 Capcom Pro Tour, which recently took place in Paris, France. During a heated Grand Final match between the two-time Capcom Cup champ MenaRD and the Hong Kong pro Chris Wong, a group of people bounded onto the stage and covered the players' monitor screens in orange paint.

Security quickly followed and escorted them off stage, but the damage was already done. The two players were forced to leave their setups and go backstage while the venue crew worked to get the tournament back on track, much to the confusion of the commentators.

“What has happened? … I would love to know,” said one commentator, before they were eventually filled in and could explain the situation to livestream viewers. “Everyone’s safe, no one has been harmed … An incident occurred, and the team has handled it swiftly and quickly.”

The news quickly spread on social media that the ones responsible were representing the Just Stop Oil movement, and while they were reprimanded for disrupting the event, it was made clear that their methods were peaceful and didn’t pose a threat to anyone involved.

After a break and some cleaning up, the tournament could resume, ending in a decisive win for Chris Wong in a final match many viewers likely won’t forget.
