Tom Holland Takes Extended Break From Social Media, Explains Why In Instagram Post

The actor took to Instagram to explain that the break was for his mental health, as he finds social media to be "very detrimental".

Tom Holland has been pretty quiet on social media lately, but has briefly made a return to explain what’s been going on. Fans will be relieved to know that the Spider-Man star is totally fine, but has been taking some time out for his mental health.

Take a look below at our interview with Tom Holland about Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In a video post, he spoke directly to fans to deliver the update, and an important message: “I have taken a break from social media for my mental health, because I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming,” he said. “I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online, and ultimately it’s very detrimental to my mental state, so I decided to take a step back and delete the app.”

The actor also wanted to raise awareness for mental health charity stem4, which works to support positive mental health in young people. The charity offers a number of free apps, which can be used to help manage anxiety symptoms, low mood, and more.

“There is an awful stigma against mental health, and I know that asking for help and seeking help isn’t something that we should be ashamed of, but it is something which is much easier said than done,” he continued. “Thank you for listening, I’m going to disappear from Instagram again, and to everyone out there, thanks for your love and support, I love you all, and I’ll speak to you soon.”
