It has been over twenty-years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone hit cinemas and despite some of its actors and fans moving on, it seems some just can’t leave the Wizarding World behind. Unfortunately for them, one Harry Potter star believes they should “grow up”.
Despite the Harry Potter series being marketed for children, having it as a big staple of our childhood means that many of us grew up with it. As a result, it is not uncommon to meet die-hard fans who are now in their twenties and thirties. Although there is nothing inherently wrong with this, Harry Potter star Miriam Margolyes believes these adult fans should move on.

“I worry about Harry Potter fans because they should be over that by now,” Margolyes said in an interview with New Zealand’s 1News. “It was 25 years ago, and it’s for children. I think it’s for children.”

“They get stuck in it. I do Cameos, and people say, ‘We’re having a Harry Potter-themed wedding, and I think, ‘Gosh, what’s their first night of fun going to be?’ I can’t even think about it. No,” she added.
Now it appears as though Margolyes is doubling down on her views despite the controversy they sparked last week when they went viral. For the actress who played Hogwarts' Professor Sprout in both 2002’s Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and 2011’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, she still believes the series is for children.
“I’m not unhappy about it. I just think that it’s for children,” Margolyes said on Australia’s ABC News Breakfast. “And if your balls have dropped, then it’s time to forget about it. You know, go on to other things.”
Although she agrees that it is a “great series” and a “wonderful set of films,” she ended with, “But it was 25 years ago. Grow up!”
