Can you believe it's been ten years since Ubisoft unleashed Assassin's Creed Brotherhood upon the world? The 2010 instalment in the popular stealth-action franchise is often regarded as the best or most important, but don't you dare ever count it out - it's one hell of a game.

For one thing, it was a direct sequel to the critically-acclaimed Assassin's Creed II, a big win in our eyes. The timey-wimey franchise wasn't really in the habit of revisiting characters or periods in history at this point, but the sheer popularity of Ezio Auditore meant that Ubisoft decided to bring the cheeky chappy back for a brand-new adventure set in Rome.

So we have a fan-favourite character, returning just at the point in time that Ubisoft has gotten the classic Assassin's Creed formula down to an art. For those of you who aren't quite into the RPG-heavy new direction and prefer the classic entries, I think this could most certainly be considered one of the best, right? Throw in a bunch of new features, a stunning open-world to explore, and the ability to recruit your own band of followers and, well, Brotherhood just hits different.

But we should have known that from the beginning, right? I mean, even the game's reveal trailer is on another level. If you don't quite know which trailer I'm talking about now, refresh your memory by checking it out below. The E3 2010 reveal of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is absolutely iconic, and for good reason.

The whole thing is just an absolute masterclass in building hype for Assassin's Creed fans, and a clear statement of intent from Ubisoft that this is the game those of use who loved Assassin's Creed II (all of us) had been waiting for.

Starting off with a stunning shot of Rome gives us a clear and enticing look at the world we'll soon be exploring/climbing/stabbing people in. The slow build to revealing Ezio is riveting. The way he simply walks straight into the middle of what should be certain death, striding purposefully towards his target without a care for the fact he appears to greatly outnumbered. In seconds, we're reminded why we adore Ezio and why it's so great to see him back.

Finally, the reveal that Ezio isn't alone! He stands there cool as anything while his enemies drop like flies around him, only for us to discover that he's brought friends. Ubisoft's way of letting us know about an all-new gameplay feature via a stunning and smart CG trailer. It really is the kind of thing I think we all want to see more of, and by "it", I mean Assassin's Creed games starring Ezio. Make it happen, Ubisoft.
