As a massive fan of the series from a young age, it was a real treat to be lucky enough to speak to Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Jason ‘Wee Man’ Acuña and Chris Pontius from the Jackass gang. I used to laugh along with these guys and now I’m actually having a laugh with them over Zoom. The world works in mysterious ways.

Jackass Forever - the fourth film in the series - is out in movie theaters on February 4th, after many setbacks in the filming process - including Knoxville potentially suffering brain damage as a result of a brutal scene with a bull, a Jackass favourite. In fact, in my chat with Johnny he said, referring to the animals, “I love them!” - even after his life-threatening stunt. Steve-O wasn’t as enthusiastic about the horned bovines, though.

While chatting with the beloved Jason Acuña, more famously known as Wee Man, I asked him and Chris Pontius about 2007’s Jackass: The Game. They seemed a little disappointed that they weren’t involved much in the making of the PS2 and PSP title, but they had an idea for a Jackass game that actually sounds pretty good.

When asked whether he’d be up for making a new Jackass game, Wee Man told me: “I always hoped that if we did do another video game, it would be made like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, but Jackass style. Because those games, no matter who you are, everyone loves [them]. A Jackass game made in that format would be amazing!” Pontius added that they weren’t creatively involved with Jackass: The Game but added, “If we could make a game that we’d like to play, it’d be sick.”

Acuã built on his idea, saying: “A mix of Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 all in one.” I could see this video game being formed in his mind as we spoke. Pontius was quick to conclude: Somehow, yeah. That would be amazing.”.

I had Jackass: The Game on my PSP and absolutely loved it, though looking back at footage on YouTube, I don’t think it’s aged particularly well. While talking to Steve-O, he confessed that he was on one of his darkest drug binges while recording audio for the game.

There is a new Jackass game out now on mobile, called Jackass: Human Slingshot. However, if Jackass Forever is as successful as previous installments, and with a new cast of characters, Jackass could attract a whole new generation of fans. Which could in turn present an opportunity for a new game on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch consoles.

At GAMINGbible, we absolutely loved the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 remaster, scoring the package 9/10 in our review. Skating around as our favourite Jackass icons, occasionally performing an amazing stunt or completely stacking it in a similar fashion to Skate 3’s ‘Hall of Meat’ game mode, would bring hours of fanciful fun. I’m not too sure how the Guitar Hero part would work within this imaginary game - but Guitar Hero is awesome so if Wee Man wants it, I want it too.
