Can I play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy?

Can you play Quidditch, everyone's favourite sporting event in Hogwarts Legacy? Let's find out.

Quidditch is pretty much the favourite pastime of any student at Hogwarts. So the question must be asked, can you play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy?

What is Quidditch

The sport of Quidditch first made its appearance in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It involves two teams of seven consisting of the four Hogwarts Houses, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

Competing teams must score points to win the game by throwing the Quaffle into the opposition’s baskets to score 10 points. However, if a player catches the Golden Snitch, their team is awarded 150 points and the game will end. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Simples.

So, is Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy?

Sadly it’s not. Well at least in its typical form. While you can unlock the flying broom in Hogwarts Legacy, it will mainly be used for exploring the grounds as well as its surrounding areas.

However, according to the official Hogwarts Legacy FAQ, the broom will be used in-game for “race challenges” and exploration. What’s more, players can also take part in a Flying class to master their broomstick skills.

Annoyingly, the Quidditch area features in Hogwarts Legacy, yet the sport isn't playable. Fans have been calling for Hogwarts' premier sporting event to feature in the game and some even hope that developers Avalanche Software will one day add the mode as DLC.

Hogwarts Legacy releases this week for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on the 10th of February or on today for those that pre-ordered the Hogwarts Legacy Collector’s Edition or Deluxe Edition.

As for last-gen and Nintendo Switch owners, you’ll have to be a little more patient. Hogwarts Legacy will release on 4th April for PS4 and Xbox One, and then for Nintendo Switch on 25th, July.
