2005 Star Wars Battlefront 2 is still a masterpiece after all this time

2005 Star Wars Battlefront 2 is still a masterpiece after all this time

May the force be with you

There are plenty of fond memories for Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005) and gamers are joined together on Reddit in loving the game.

It was in the gaming subreddit that u/Pozzg exclaimed "I decided to play Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005) after a long time. Such a masterpiece." It's a bold claim, but it checks out. Battlefront 2 was one of the pioneering games for consoles back in the day. It became a stalwart of Xbox Live and other online services.

The newer Battlefront 2 was an homage to 2005

When I read the top comment to this post I was instantly transported back to nights on Xbox Live with a group of mates. We slammed this game every night and u/Arau_ points to one of the game's highlight moments, "Heroes Vs Villains on Mos Eisley with goofy music playing in the background, picking Boba Fett, hiding in a corner and causing a ruckus with remote control missiles."

Most of the replies are users throwing quotes at each other which stirs some great memories. As u/Jeanbearclair says "Super battle droids take 'em down" a reply comes from u/Pozzg retorting with "Watch those wrist rockets!"

Battlefront 2 was a huge success, not just for Star Wars fans who, until then, saw more misses than hits, but for fans of multiplayer shooters. There were several game modes that have inspired other shooters in recent years.

"If they released this game again with just Galactic Conquest, I would throw money at it." says u/CodeRed1234 and u/Jayce800 agrees wholeheartedly, "I would love it if they made the exact same game with the graphics of the new ones. A dream game."

Plenty of users are asking for a new version of this classic but are in agreement that the newer versions missed the mark of what made the original such a masterpiece.
