A Tekken TV Series Is Coming To Netflix

If you understand the plot of competitive fighting franchise Tekken, you have my undying respect. If you knew that competitive fighting franchise Tekken has a plot, then I am also proud and impressed.

Whether it's high-heeled Nina Williams spending half her life in an underwater tube, or the wrestler King, who is in fact not wearing a luchador mask but just has the head of a jaguar, the story of the Iron Fist Tournament has never quite been comprehendible. That of course was never helped by the fact that we were drip fed it, through minute long cinematics only shown when completing a number of fights as a particular character.

The new animated series focuses on the story of Jin Kazuma, who despite being the grandson of series antagonist Heihachi Mishima, actually only appeared for the first time in franchise favourite title Tekken 3. Despite this, Jin has been a focus for the series, with the new TV show claiming to give some background to his upbringing.

Some other characters have been shown off in the trailer including Jin's big ol' grandpapi, his mum, Jun Kazuma, and final boss and biological weapon of Tekken 3, Ogre. There are a few other cameos which are more vague, but we think we've spotted a heavily mustachioed Paul Phoenix, a silver haired Eddy Gordo, a quick glimpse of Jin's dad Kazuya Mishima, and of course our cat-headed King.

No sign of a release date yet, but we're all hoping to enter the tekken real soon.
