Hot tub streams have been a very contentious part of Twitch ever since they became a thing, and despite now having an official streaming category, some believe that they shouldn’t be allowed on the site.
Twitch is home to pretty much everything and anything at this point - from exploding watermelons to Call of Duty players dislocating their knees mid-match (by mistake, I should clarify). We’ve been reminded time and time again over the years that the live-streaming service is for much more than just video games, but nothing drove that point home more than when the Pools, Hot Tubs and Beaches category got added to the site in 2021, allowing streamers to hang out and chat with their viewers in a more aquatic environment.

As Dexerto reports, Adin Ross, who has over seven million followers on Twitch at the time of writing, doesn’t think that hot tub content should be allowed on the platform, as it feeds a "serious problem".

“I saw one person that lost a lot of money to gambling. You guys banned gambling, you guys moved on it quick,” he said. “I think we have a problem, Twitch. […] The hot tub streams bro, I think it should be banned from Twitch. I think hot tub steaming should be banned from Twitch.
“You know, it’s soft porn, it’s a portal to OnlyFans. It’s in the same category as gambling, right, because it’s promoting poison, you know what I’m saying, in the brain,” he continued. “It’s making people addicted to… it’s feeding their addiction to jerking off, which is a serious problem we have.”
It seems very unlikely that Twitch would ban hot tubs after making a specific category to accommodate them, but the site upholds strict community guidelines and isn’t afraid to issue bans to those who break them - that’s likely the way that these sorts of streams will continue to be policed.
