Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (or AOC) is best known for her day job - as a member of the United States’ Democratic Party and representative for the 14th congressional district of New York. However, it’s no secret that she’s also a fan of video games - she plays Animal Crossing (good taste), has previously streamed Among Us on Twitch, and also made an appearance in Hbomberguy’s Donkey Kong 64 fundraising stream, which raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Mermaids - a charity which supports transgender youth.
As such, it probably comes as little surprise that she’s also pretty good at League of Legends - a fact that, as reported by We Got This Covered, she’s seemingly been using to flex on the founder of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried.

There’s a lot to unpack here, so let’s rewind. Bankman-Fried has made it very known that he loves to play LoL - it was recently revealed that he apparently even played the game during a business meeting while he continued to answer questions.

However, as reported by the Financial Times, as news emerged that FTX had filed for bankruptcy protection in the US, is was also uncovered that he’s apparently not very good at the game. Based on a screenshot from 2021, it appears that he was ranked Bronze III - which isn’t very high.
Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez made it to Silver III during quarantine in 2020, prompting this response to Bankman-Fried’s supposed rank: “VCs were impressed by Bronze III? (No [offence] to bronze IIIs).”
Following some investigation from the Financial Times, it appears that Bankman-Fried may have later made it to Bronze II, which is an improvement - it’s worth keeping in mind that the screenshots are out of date since no one’s quite sure what his current account name is. Even so, people have been finding AOC’s response hilarious: “This is somehow unironically the most scathing comment SBF has gotten from a politician so far,” @0xMert_ replied.
