Casting calls have been sent out for Amazon Studios' upcoming live-action Fallout TV show, with production slated to officially begin soon.

Amazon and Bethesda announced the collaboration back in 2020 revealing that the post-apocalyptic video game franchise will be adapted for the small screen by Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonah Nolan. Bethesda boss Todd Howard is also attached as executive producer.

"Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time" Joy and Nolan said back in 2020. "Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we're incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios."

"Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout to the screen," added Howard. "But it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right. We're enormous fans of their work and couldn't be more excited to work with them and Amazon Studios."

While the project has remained relatively quiet in the years since its initial announcement, things finally seem to be headed in the right direction. Reporter Grace Randolph recently revealed on Twitter that Amazon and Kilter Films have sent out "super hush hush" casting calls. This obviously means we have no idea which actors the studio is looking at, or what direction it plans to take Fallout, but any progress is good, right?

Meanwhile, Deadline reports that production on Fallout is expected to begin later this year, with Nolan directing the pilot episode. With any luck, we should get our first proper look at the show before the end of the year. You know, assuming COVID doesn't obliterate the production plans.
