Popular Twitch streamer Kaitlyn ‘Amouranth’ Siragusa has announced that she’s been diagnosed with late stage ovarian failure.
As Insider reports, the 29-year-old streamer took to Twitter earlier this week to explain that her body “has been in perimenopause/menopause for some time”. She stated that despite generally wanting to keep her medical information private, “I feel like I owe you all an explanation on account of a few cancelled high profile appearances”.
“I was informed in March that I have late stage ovarian failure,” the streamer wrote. “Beyond that, my body has been in perimenopause/menopause for some time. Over the last year I have noticed a lot of confusing changes (mental and physical) that had no obvious explanations, but just kind of shrugged them off.

“I was completely unaware of anything serious until March,” she continued. “Since then I have undergone many tests and diagnostic procedures and my doctors concluded that not only do I have these conditions, but that my case is accelerated, as my hormones and other markers indicate a more advanced prognosis.”
Ovarian failure refers to when the ovaries stop functioning and menstrual periods stop before the age of 40. While there are two types of ovarian failure - primary and secondary, which are both caused by different things - as Insider writes, both types are associated with fertility problems and menopause-like symptoms, such as hot flashes and irregular periods.
Siragusa revealed that she’s currently undergoing daily injections and has been warned against taking part in any “high impact physical activities”, which is why she’ll no longer be competing in the La Velada boxing event. She wrote: “I'm incredibly upset about this, and I'm sorry to anyone I've let down. I'm hoping for a quick and painless treatment, and maybe I can get the opportunity to get in the ring next year if everything goes well.”
