It looks like Ubisoft isn't the only company developing an Avatar video game. Archosaur Games, Tencent, Lightstorm Entertainment, and Disney have announced Avatar: Reckoning, a mobile-exclusive MMO due to release this year.
This new Avatar game will boast "cutting-edge mobile graphics and intuitive, tailored controls." A press release also confirms that the title is being developed in Unreal Engine 4, specifically for mobile devices.
There's not trailer just yet, unfortunately, but why not take a look at Ubisoft's open-world Avatar game in action below?
The game is being built on Unreal Engine 4 specifically for mobile devices and as such features gameplay and combat tailored for touchscreens.
Avatar: Reckoning will take place on Pandora, the same world we first explored when James Cameron's 2009 epic hit cinemas. The press release also promises we'll be able to explore "never before seen" areas of the planet as we level up our custom Na'bi warriors, hunt for powerful gear, and undertake a series of missions alone or with friends.
PvP is also in the works for the game, but it'll be as part of an entirely separate mode, apparently.
There's no set release date for Avatar: Reckoning yet, but it's likely to release before Ubisoft's Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora, a game we still don't know all that much about.
We got our first glimpse at the Ubisoft title during E3 last year, where we learned that Frontiers Of Pandora will be a first-person open-world action-adventure game also set in a never-before-explored area of Pandora. There's a lot of that going around, I guess.
Players will take control of a Na'vi as they fight to survive in the wild, explore beautiful but deadly biomes, and fight against humans and their machines. Ubisoft has promised it has more to share on this one later in the year, so it looks like Avatar fans are going to spoiled for choice. For a change.
