‘Apex Legends’ Single Player FPS Game Is Officially In Development

Just one week after Electronic Arts insulted fans of single-players games in that now-infamous tweet, it looks like they’re working on a brand new single-player title. It doesn’t make sense to me either. If you missed the whole debacle, EA essentially demonstrated how to kill a meme.

Developed by Respawn Entertainment, Apex Legends bounced on the scene back in 2019. Set within the same universe as Titanfall, Apex Legends is one of the most played video games of all time. Despite that, as EA’s disastrous tweet proved, multiplayer isn’t for everyone and if that’s you, you’re in luck as a single-player Apex Legends title appears to be in development.

Take a look at some of our favourite Apex Legends wins and fails below.

As spotted by Dexerto, several jobs have been listed by Respawn pertaining to the development of this game, which they currently refer to as an ‘Apex universe FPS incubation project.’ Available roles include a senior systems engineer and a hard surface artist and the game itself is described as a “developer’s dream playground”.

The listing states, “This new single-player title is a developer’s dream playground with the freedom to innovate made possible by the unique universe it inhabits. Our critically acclaimed, multi-platform games have always established a ‘fun comes first’ sensibility created with the notion that great ideas can come from anyone, which allows creativity to shine and individuals to shape the game in meaningful ways.”

Admittedly, this doesn’t give much away but we do know that this game is coming … at some point … probably in the far distant future. The listing emphasises the fact that this is a “brand new” venture so it’s unlikely to be Titanfall 3. Earlier this year, industry insider Jeff Grub teased that Respawn were working on a new AAA FPS which fits in with what we’re now seeing.

As much as I love multiplayer games, I do spend most of my time in the single-player realm so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how this game develops.
