With multiple titles in development, the Assassin’s Creed franchise is still as relevant now as it was when it first began in 2007. With the wait for Assassin’s Creed: Mirage fast approaching, fans can pass the time by getting stuck into Assassin’s Creed: Bloodstone, a two-part graphic novel series.
Written by Guillaume Dorison, Assassin’s Creed: Bloodstone tells the story of Tomo, one of the youngest members of the Japanese Assassin cell. After uncovering a conspiracy, Tomo, who is usually a man of science than action, must investigate further even if it means following the footsteps of the Assassins who worked during the Vietnam War. With illustrations by Ennio Bufi, the two-part graphic novel series was originally written and released in French. It saw its first volume released in March 2019 with its second being released in October of the same year. However, they were later released in 2020 and 2021 respectively in English.

This is by no means the first graphic novel in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. With multiple comics being released over the years, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Luckily, a graphic has been created showing the best reading order if you wish to tackle them yourself. With some novels having connecting storylines, some being standalones and other volumes being rereleased in recent years, it’s confusing to say the least. Additionally, some comics follow the story of random Assassins such as Tomo whilst others follow the adventures of Ezio, Altair, Connor and Edward.

Ubisoft currently has its hands full with the Assassin’s Creed franchise including plans for Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, Infinity, Codename Hexe, Codename Jade, Codename Red and Invictus. With Mirage releasing on 5 October and Nexus VR following on 16 November, it is set to be an exciting year for the franchise with many more instalments following suit in 2024 onwards.
