When the first game in the Assassin’s Creed series was released in 2007 it played a huge part in turning Ubisoft into the video game publishing juggernaut that it is today.
Assassin’s Creed was released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and during that time it pushed the boundaries of what the console generation was capable of not only in the visuals department but its world exploration, parkour-inspired gameplay and fun combat. Since that time, the game has understandably aged which is why fans would love nothing more than to see an Assassin’s Creed remake or at the very least, a remaster.

The closest we’ve had so far to the original game in the series being remade is with the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage which launched in 2023 and a lot of ways had taken the series back to its roots.

In our review of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, we said it’s: “a glorious return to form for the series, and I had a joyous time playing through it. It’s great to see the series shift its focus back to stealth and a compelling narrative about the Order of Assassins, and I sincerely hope Ubisoft treat Mirage as the new baseline going forward, whilst still evolving the series further.”
Whether Ubisoft will ever remake the original Assassin’s Creed remains to be seen. However, modder Claimer has taken matters into their own hands with a stunning fanmade remaster which looks like an officially released Ubisoft game in 2024.
The Assassin’s Creed remaster in question makes full use of ray tracing, global illumination, anti-aliasing and much more. Sadly, with this being a mod, as is often the case, it’s only available on PC.
