‘Assassin’s Creed VR’ Gameplay Leak Reveals Game’s Title And Mission Details

A Reddit user claims to have accessed a beta of the upcoming Assassin's Creed virtual reality game.

I don’t know about you but for me, 2020 feels like one giant blur. I think we can all agree that it was a year full of chaos but somewhere amidst that chaos, a major announcement was made in regards to the future of Assassin’s Creed.

At the Oculus Connect virtual event, Ubisoft’s Red Storm Entertainment revealed that a virtual reality Assassin's Creed title was in production which would be exclusive to the Oculus VR. Since then, details on the project have been scarce but a recent leak has brought some key developments to light.

Take a look at gameplay from the recently released Assassin's Creed: Dawn of Ragnarok below.

Reddit user Echiketto claims to have recently accessed a beta of the VR game which is apparently titled Assassin’s Creed Nexus. According to Echiketto, the game will release in the next 12 months and follows a linear structure.

He went on to offer further details on the gameplay design saying, “Combat is timing based. You have to wait until your enemy lowers his cover, and strike fast. Missions are linear, so no open world. The mission areas are fairly big. Backtracking is a thing. Parkour works by holding the ‘A’ button and walking towards climbable props.”

Echiketto also goes on to say that weapons include a “Sword, hidden blade, throwing knife, smoke bombs, [and a] crossbow.” As with any leak, this all must be taken with a pinch of salt until Ubisoft officially announces any developments.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Assassin’s Creed has come to VR. Ubisoft previously worked on a VR experience which was available in select escape rooms. It is however, the first VR Assassin's Creed title to be readily available to the public as a game which is a big deal for the franchise. Whilst the upcoming Assassin's Creed VR entry isn’t likely to be as popular as the next mainline entry Assassin's Creed Infinity, it’s certainly welcome nonetheless.
