'Battlefield 2042' Will Be Free To Play On Xbox And PC For A Limited Time

Try before you buy

Xbox and PC users looking to try out Battlefield 2042 will be able to get stuck into a 10-hour free trial from next week.

EA Play subscribers and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will be able to access the free trial of DICE’s hotly anticipated shooter starting November 12. Given the… robust feedback to the game’s open beta, concerned players are probably better off trying this one out before committing to buying the final product.

Take a look at Battlefield 2042 in action below!

It sounds as if player complaints in regards to the beta has already helped to iron out most of the alarming issues. In a lengthy blog post published last month, EA talked extensively about the changes being made to Battlefield 2042 following the beta. It’s a lot.

The game’s ping system, for one, is being overhauled to allow much more streamlined communication between teammates. The plus menu will also be more responsive and allow for quicker attachment switching, while loadouts will be fully customisable.

Other key changes include a grenade indicator, more tanks on Orbital (for new-gen consoles and PC), and tweaks to movement to make things feel a little more realistic and “tone down jump spamming”.

This all sounds great, of course… but the trial will still be a good chance for players to test that out before sinking £60 on the game. Unfortunately it looks like PlayStation users are simply going to have to take the risk, or wait for user and critic reviews to roll in.
