Battlefield: Bad Company 2 hailed as peak of the franchise

The Battlefield series from Electronic Arts has been going strong (mostly) for over 20 years offering some of the best military shooters of its genre.

Sadly, the series has fallen on hard times lately with the underwhelming Battlefield 2042 released in 2021 and recent cost-cutting tactics and employee redundancies have put the next Battlefield entry in jeopardy. That being said, the Battlefield series from DICE has brought fans a lot of fond memories and many of those memories were created playing the cult-classic Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Released in 2010 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 became an instant classic garnering very respectable scores as high as 88 on the aggregate website, Metacritic. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is so beloved, that fans are still talking about this popular military shooter to this very day.

You can also compete in four-player teams in two squad-only game modes, fighting together to unlock exclusive awards and achievements.”

“Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was released 14 years ago, I miss those days,” said a sadly reminiscent Reddit user. “Damn I'm old, BFBC2 was the peak Battlefield, shame for the disaster of Battlefield 2042,” replied Roarer34.

“If you told me 14 years ago that destructible environments going forward in fps’ would be the exception and not the rule, I would tell you to get lost. Bad Company 2 is a PS3/360 title and its destruction mechanics still stand out to this day,” said bhhhhhhhtyc. “Capturing an objective that was contested for a long time with absolutely no structures remaining other than holes in the ground and a tiny bit of foundations is one of those gaming experiences you’ll always remember.”

“I loved Bad Company 2. The game was so good, I recall being blown away at just how intense the battles were with incredibly good sound design,” explained Snotnarok. “That was on PC with the extra player limit which did make it hard to get things done with double the players trying to murder your face and holding objectives.”

If you want to jump back into Battlefield: Bad Company 2, it’s backwards compatible with modern Xbox consoles. Though sadly, its multiplayer is no longer online but you can still enjoy its fun single-player campaign.
