Temuera Morrison is easily one of the most charismatic and engaging personalities to inhabit the Star Wars universe. The actor who plays Boba Fett in the Disney+ show The Book Of Boba Fett and cameos in The Mandalorian has been with the franchise for almost two decades since his first appearance as bounty hunter Jango Fett.
He does, of course, also play millions of clone troopers who borrow their likeness and voices from the instantly recognisable New Zealand actor. His work has extended into animated Star Wars shows as well as video games, including providing his vocal talents for the hugely popular Republic Commando which released way back in 2005.
GAMINGbible recently had the chance to talk to Morrison at the Star Wars Celebration, where he chatted about his experience on the shows and his work on various video games.
“I do a few voices for those video games. Very hard work, harder than acting,” Morrison said. “You try and get some emotion into a voiceover, all the instructions as well, you know? ‘Turn left, go right, you missed, try again’.”
Having millions of clone troopers all voiced by one person could easily become tedious very quickly, but thanks to Temuera’s infectious energy and emphatic performances, every project he works on is brimming with charm. He noted during the Episode II: Attack of the Clones 20th Anniversary celebration panel - one of the many panels that took place over the Celebration weekend - that he had a blast doing the voice work on Republic Commando, and when asked if he’d be keen to pick up Republic Commando 2 or perhaps a Boba Fett game, the star was characteristically enthusiastic.
“Oh yes, oh yes. Definitely. The gaming is where it’s all at, too, because with a movie or a TV show it’s all over but with a game, you can be there a bit longer. There will be some coming, I can let you know that.”
Now, I don’t know about you, but that sounds like confirmation that Morrison is working on something Star Wars related in the gaming space. Is that a standalone game? Perhaps a Boba Fett game in the style of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter which also starred the actor as Jango Fett, or the long-awaited Republic Commando 2. Simply put, right now, we do not know. But there’s no doubt Temuera is on board and therefore, we are too.
