The Brenaissance is real, my friends. The internet's sweetheart Brendan Fraser is in the middle of a stratospheric career comeback that's showing no signs of slowing down.

For the last few years the former George Of The Jungle Star has been delighting audiences as Robotman in DC's wonderful Doom Patrol series. More recently, it was announced that he'll be joining the cast of Martin Scorsese's Apple TV movie Killers Of The Flower Moon, and Max Barbakow's Brothers. He's also just landed a role as the villainous Firefly in the upcoming Batgirl movie, so he's a pretty busy fella at the moment.

As wonderful as it is to see Fraser taking on all these incredible new roles, die-hard fans are wondering if the actor will ever return to the franchise that firmly established him as one of the most beloved and likable action stars of the early 00s. I'm referring, of course, to The Mummy.

Take a look at Brendan Fraser in action in one his most iconic roles below!

Fraser played Richard O'Connell in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns in 1999 and 2001. Both films totally hold up, too! They're slick action-adventures filled with charm, humour, thrills, and some proper scares. He returned to the character for a third film in 2008, but we don't really talk about that one. Oh, and there was a much more serious reboot in 2017 starring Tom Cruise. We don't talk about that one either.

Fraser has said before that he'd consider returning for a fourth Mummy movie, but we've yet to hear anything official on that front. However, a new report from Giant Freakin Robot claims that a sequel to the original Mummy movies is in development at Universal, and that Fraser is being eyed up to reprise his role as Richard O'Connell.

Given the huge popularity of Fraser right now and the obvious success of anything even remotely nostalgic and evocative of a simpler time, The Mummy 4 with the original cast would make a lot of sense. This is all purely rumour territory right now, unfortunately, so just watch this space.
