Destiny 2 developer Bungie has hit back at fans complaining about the studio's recent pro-choice statement, insisting that it will "never" just stick to video games.
Earlier this week Bungie condemned the news of a leaked Supreme Court decision that would overturn abortion rights in the United States
"At Bungie we believe that everyone has a right to choose their own path and that freedom is expressed across all facets of life. The leaked draft decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade represents a blow to freedom in America and is a direct attack on human rights," the developer wrote on its website.
Bungie also shared the statement on social media, writing that "standing up for reproductive choice and liberty is not a difficult decision to make." Predictably, it wasn't long before the "keep politics out of games" crew emerged from their holes for criticise Bungie.
"Can we just stick to making video games?" asked one user who doesn't quite seem to understand that video games are made by actual human beings who actually care what happens to other human beings. Bungie wasted no time in responding.
"We’ve chosen our side and it wasn’t difficult," Bungie said in a follow-up tweet. "Our company values exist beyond our games."
Earlier this year Bungie was acquired by Sony for $3.6 billion dollars. The main intention behind the deal, apparently, is for Bungie to assist Sony as it attempts to develop more live-service titles going forward.
