'Call Of Duty: Warzone 2' Is Making Huge Changes To Loadout Drops

'Call Of Duty: Warzone 2' Is Making Huge Changes To Loadout Drops

After months of silence, a fresh leak offers new insight on the major changes that are coming

There’s never a dull moment in the Call of Duty calendar. Between Warzone’s current Operation Monarch limited-time event and the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II reveal, there’s plenty of information to digest and today, we’ve got even more. Let me rest. Please.

Back in January, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 was rumoured to be in development with a planned 2023 release. We’re still waiting on an official announcement so details are practically non-existent, but a fresh leak appears to be changing that. Someone at Infinity Ward really needs to call the plumber.

Fancy a trip down memory lane? Take a look at some of our favourite Warzone wins and fails below.

YouTuber NerosCinema was recently informed by a source that Warzone 2 will bring significant changes to the series which will particularly affect loadout drops and inventory management. Instead of securing a custom loadout at a Buy Station, NerosCinema claims that players will be able to earn their loadouts via a series of challenges known as Strongholds.

“Loadouts are still going to be part of the game but they will be locked behind these things called Strongholds,” said NerosCinema. Loadout challenges could include tasks like “defusing a bomb” or “infiltrating a building,” but the leaker doesn’t reveal whether this is the only way to obtain a custom loadout. It sure sounds like it could be fun, but it’s all down to just how many tasks there are. Variety is certainly key.

A major overhaul is also coming to Warzone 2’s inventory system as a “bag system” will be introduced. Instead of having dedicated slots for different categories of items, each item will now take up a specific amount of inventory space, allowing more flexibility for players over what items they carry. NerosCinema also adds that you’ll need a satchel to equip armour, as there will be no default option.

It’s long been rumoured that Warzone 2 will introduce a brand-new map but according to NerosCinema, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s Highrise map could also make a return, which would certainly tie in nicely with the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. (Yes, those are two different games.)

There’s also set to be a firing range as if all of the above wasn’t enough. Phew, I’m exhausted. As with all rumours, this has to be taken with a pinch of salt until anything is officially confirmed by Infinity Ward. Please Infinity Ward, tell us more.
