Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II players will be benefitting from 16 multiplayer maps from launch, according to dataminers who have been digging into the game's code like little moles.
Moles are interesting animals, aren't they. So small, so efficient and yet so deadly. With their shovel-like front paws, they excavate massive amounts of earth and snatch their prey with unerring accuracy. Should their food sources be reliable enough, the mole will bite the head of a worm off and put it in a storeroom somewhere else in their network of tunnels. Just like we would fridge the extra slices of Domino's pizza for tomorrow's lunch. Except the pizza is still alive.

Fortunately, the actions of these dataminers has not led to any decapitations (to our knowledge). Insider Gaming reiterated that there are 11 6v6 maps and five Ground War maps that will be in rotation once the game's multiplayer mode is unlocked on 28 October. The 6v6 maps are:
- Breenbergh Hotel
- Museum
- Mercado Las Almas
- Taraq
- Crown Raceway (previously Grand Prix)
- Al Bagra Fortress
- Zarqwa Hydroelectric
- Santa Seña Border Crossing
- Farm 18
- Embassy
- El Asilo
And the Ground War maps are:
- Sa’id
- Sariff Bay
- Santa Seña
- Zarqwa Hydroelectric
- Al Bagra Fortress
Bear in mind, Activision and Infinity Ward haven't made mention of the number of maps on their way to the multiplayer mode, so it's worth hedging your bets on this front. Dataminers have also discovered a Zombies mode in the Modern Warfare II code, in spite of the claims that this entry would be skipping the curse, and Activision hit those leaks with a swift DMCA notice. Makes you wonder.
