Chinese 'Elden Ring' Ripoff Pulled From App Store

Chinese 'Elden Ring' Ripoff Pulled From App Store

Some very maidenless behaviour from the developers.

It's been over two weeks since FromSoftware released its latest tough as nails, open world adventure, Elden Ring, and already a fake version has been developed, uploaded and removed.

Previously available on the android and Apple app stores in China, a game called Elden Ring - Dark Open World Action RPG has already been taken down. The app didn't go very far into imitating the fastest selling game since Red Dead Redemption 2. While it did copy the name directly - followed by a vague description of the Japanese best seller - on the app store icon it actually says 'Eilon Ring'.

Did you know that Elden Ring has a pause? See how to find it in the video below.

As spotted by Geek Culture (which found the information on Chinese website ithome), the image on the icon does closely resemble a character from the promotional material for Hidetaka Miyazaki's latest game. The screenshots which accompanied the app also looked like characters you might see in Elden Ring.

This doesn't even appear to be what you get in game though. Elden Ring - Dark Open World Action RPG is a top down, free-to-play MMO style RPG which looks nothing like the latest Soulsborne game. While it was free-to-play, it has in-app purchases which is how they were planning to profit from FromSoftware's latest.

Those who have already downloaded the pretty standard mobile RPG wearing the skin of Elden Ring will continue being able to play. However, as the game has now been removed there is no way to currently get your hands on it.

Some gamers are making the real Elden Ring pay to win. Players are purchasing heaps of runes on eBay, which are presumably made via a duping glitch. Spending real money, they use the runes to level up and make some of Elden Ring's challenge a little easier.
