Choo Choo Charles is bringing its open-world horror to PS5

Choo Choo Charles is bringing its open-world horror to PS5

Get ready to face off against a bloodthirsty spider train when Choo Choo Charles launches this December.

Horror takes on many forms. Five Nights at Freddy’s changed a generation of youngsters’ perceptions of animatronics forever, and Silent Hill made us realise that even a guy with a pyramid for a face can be terrifying. For that reason, perhaps it’s not the most shocking thing in the world that one indie developer has decided to make a horror game about a train.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a sufficiently spooky train, and chances are, you’ve already seen him online - plenty of people have been very excited for this one. But if your eyes are yet to be blessed, let me introduce you to Choo Choo Charles - a title from Two Star Games, in which you have to fight a bloodthirsty spider train called Charles to the death.

Take a look at the latest trailer for Choo Choo Charles right here.

The player must navigate an open-world island in search of upgrades for their own train (which is just an actual, normal train, by the way), before eventually confronting Charles and (hopefully) ending his reign of tyranny for good. By helping out local people, they can return the favour with new weapons and items, which may help seal the demonic train’s fate. The whole time, you’ll have to be wary of being ambushed by Charles - he can pop out at seemingly any time to stop you in your tracks. …Get it, tracks? Sorry.

Anyway, Choo-Choo Charles is chugging onto Steam on 9 December - not exactly what I’d call a traditional festive release, but there you go. You can add it to your wishlist here. As Eurogamer writes, developer Gavin Eisenbeisz previously expressed that there’s “a pretty good chance that Choo-Choo Charles will come to consoles”, adding that there was a lot of player interest for it, so hopefully we might get confirmation of that at some point, too.
