New Co-op Alien Shooter 'The Anacrusis' Is Taking Steam By Storm

New Co-op Alien Shooter 'The Anacrusis' Is Taking Steam By Storm

The game launched back on 13 January, and since then player numbers have skyrocketed.

So, if you’ve not tried The Anacrusis yet, you’re missing out. The four-player co-op shooter, which is currently available in early access on Steam and on Xbox Game Preview, is set aboard a huge starship stranded at the edge of explored space, in which you have to work together as a team to fight off hordes of aliens. And, to say it’s only been out for just over a couple of weeks now, it’s doing really well.

Apparently, the game has already surpassed over 200,000 players since it first launched on 13 January, and in that time, over a billion aliens have been successfully annihilated. Good job, team. Unsurprisingly, the devs are super happy about all this - it’s a pretty incredible feat, after all.

Before we go on, be sure to check out some of our favourite COD: Warzone wins and fails below.

“Seeing the community jump feet first into The Anacrusis in this first week has been fantastic. We’ve seen a huge surge in players from Game Pass and lots of positive responses from PC fans as well,” said Chet Faliszek, co-founder of Stray Bombay and previously of Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead and Portal fame (cheers, NME). “We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us and all the feedback that’s come in has been hugely appreciated. We’re continuing to create more game content and refine what’s there as we work on new features like mod support and the upcoming Challenge Track.”

“Everyone on the Stray Bombay team has had a blast watching The Anacrusis streams since launch. We’ve enjoyed chatting with fans, getting feedback from players, and occasionally even joining in the fun,” added Will Smith, communications director. “We want to highlight the amazing streamers and YouTubers who are having a blast with The Anacrusis, so we’ve begun a bi-weekly highlights series to put a spotlight on some of the best moments people have been having with our game.”

One thing is for sure, The Anacrusis is doing significantly better than Hyper Scape. What’s Hyper Scape, I hear you ask? Exactly. Ubisoft’s poor, forgotten battle royale, which launched in summer 2020, is slated to be shut down in just a few months time. So, that was short lived. It certainly looks like The Anacrusis is going to have more success than that.
