'Cyberpunk 2077' Developer Confirms Update Fans Have Been Desperate For

All hope is not lost

Cyberpunk 2077 has really turned around the last few months. After a disastrous 2020 launch that was handled with all the grace of a hurried wee in a bush at the side of the motorway, the current state of the sci-fi RPG is... not bad. Not bad at all, actually.

The last year or so has seen CD Projekt RED working diligently to improve Cyberpunk 2077 with bug fixes and general tweaks. The biggest update yet came just a few months ago, when the long-awaited PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X/S versions of the game launched.

This new-gen version is by far the closest to the product CD Projekt RED spent years promising us. It looks better, runs better, and generally feels much better to play. It still has its problems, for sure, but it's far from the hideous mess it was.

With this game-changing patch out of the way, all eyes are now on the prospect of new content for Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt RED famously had to put the previously planned DLC expansions on hold when it realised it would need to focus its time and energy on making the base game playable, but now that it is, fans are wondering when that DLC might finally materialise.

Fortunately, the game's quest director Pawel Sasko has moved to reassure fans this content is still on the way, despite the fact that CD Projekt RED is stepping up work on a brand-new Witcher game.

"We are working on stuff for you. Like, I'm literally daily reviewing quests, talking to people about stuff, so it is happening," Sasko said during a recent livestream. "I cannot tell you anything about our future plans, but I can assure you that we are working on expansions - we're working on stuff for you guys."

CD Projekt RED previously promised two major expansions and a smattering of smaller, free DLC. Some of the smaller DLC has already made it into the game via updates, but the expansions remain elusive. For now, it seems, they will stay a mystery. But fans can at least take solace in knowing that they are coming eventually.
