Despite a fairly disastrous launch, developer CD Projekt Red, has been working around the clock to make sure that its latest release Cyberpunk 2077 is in the state it should have been when it released. While many Steam reviews still complain about a number of bugs, and that the world and story are unpolished, finally a year after initial release, the title now holds mostly positive reviews on the online storefront.

Reviewing the PlayStation 4 version at initial release, our own Ewan Moore bemoaned the game's "frequent crashes and other bugs, significant visual downgrade compared to PC version. [The game's location] Night City feels empty, [with] too many systems and features that the game never needed."

There was reportedly an upgraded version for the latest generation of consoles in the works for a 2021 release. However, the year quietly slipped by with no upgrade to show for it. In its October announcement, CD Projekt Red said "we want to make it right" while noting that its new generation games would not be released that year. Cyberpunk 2077 was given a new release date of spring 2022, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt wouldn't see an upgrade until around summer.

Now evidence appears to be mounting for at least a PS5 release coming very soon. Reddit sleuths who were examining Cyberpunk 2077's build notes realised that the updated build on 17 January hinted at being the release for the latest generation of consoles. Today, Eurogamer reports that by looking at the PlayStation Store database, there appears to be information pointing towards the PlayStation 5 update coming mid February to early March.

That means those who have been holding off on picking up the cyberpunk tale from the team behind the legendary The Witcher 3 , until it landed on a console capable of taming the beast, then there might be less than five weeks to go.
