Just over a week since its launch, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is getting a 2.01 patch later today for PC, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S.
It has been a successful few days for Cyberpunk 2077’s first and only expansion Phantom Liberty. Releasing on 26 September, the spy-thriller expansion welcomed Idris Elba into the fray and helped boost the game towards a 180,000 concurrent player base on Steam, the highest since the game originally launched in 2020. Now that the hype is slowly dying down as players explore the new area of Dogtown, CD Projekt Red are sending out a 2.01 patch.

This news comes courtesy of the studio’s global community director, Marcin Momot who revealed the news on Twitter yesterday. “If all goes according to plan, patch 2.01 should arrive tomorrow on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S,” he wrote alongside a link to the patch notes.

The patch in question will include overall performance issues for the Dogtown area as well as fixes to any lingering bugs. After some fans complained of a “visual distortion” during one dialogue scene with Johnny, it will be fixed in 2.01 as well as stopping V from dying after falling though an elevator (yes, it happened). Other fixes will focus on UI improvements, mission starting bugs and addressing reported corrupted saves on PlayStation.
Despite CD Projekt Red still rolling out regular fixes and small updates, it recently announced that it will be stopping work on Cyberpunk 2077 in order to start work on its sequel. Its game director, Gabe Amatangelo recently said, "2.0 and Phantom Liberty are the last big updates. We'll do a little something more, but those are the last big ones.” When asked what’s next for the studio, he said, "Then it's Cyberpunk 2. Or 'Orion,' I should say, whatever we end up naming it."
With the start of Cyberpunk 2077’s journey being less than smooth, it is nice to see them going out with a bang with many now claiming the game is one of the best.
