Cyberpunk 2077 surprise update may actually wreck your save

Cyberpunk 2077 surprise update may actually wreck your save

Be careful with those save files

Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 are warned that the latest update to the game may completely break your current progress, or even make the game unplayable. The issue is for PC players, so console owners don’t need to worry about this one.

The issues are hitting those who like to mod their experience as the update doesn’t play nice with many mods, and fans are understandably upset. It’s hard for the developers, CD Projekt Red, to know what will and won’t affect mods, however, given that they can’t check every mod whenever they roll out a patch. It’s often left to mod creators to fix the problem after the patch.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been enjoying a lot of players since the release of the DLC Phantom Liberty

While the latest update hasn’t added any game features, it is an attempt to fix some bugs and glitches that the community have experienced. Unfortunately, while fixing some issues, more problems can arise for those who prefer their life in Night City to be modded.

CD Projekt Red tweeted about the patch saying, “We've just released an update for #Cyberpunk2077 on PC. It fixes the crash that occurred when actions were assigned to side buttons on Razer mice. The update won't change the version of the game visible in the main menu but it could affect mods.”

The key piece of information is in the last sentence saying that mods could be affected. This means that your save files will also be affected as the game won’t match its saved state. It’s worth waiting a few days for your mods to be updated by the creators, which should bring back some stability and allow you to continue playing.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been having a great time of late. Ever since the DLC, Phantom Liberty, was released the game has been in a great state with players flooding back to finish their campaigns or restart completely.
