The new Cyberpunk 2077 ‘true next-gen’ update has absolutely floored fans with its stunning beauty.

Recently, the Overdrive Mode update went live and for the most part, it finally brings CD Projekt Red’s sci-fi RPG to its full potential. Exclusive to PC, Overdrive Mode takes advantage of high-end Nvidia 40 series cards producing stunning ray-tracing visuals in glorious 4K/60fps. However, due to the high spec demands, Overdrive Mode is unplayable for a lot of disgruntled fans. Thankfully, there is a workaround of sorts.

What’s more, as reported by TechEBlog, all the neon-lit billboards to vehicle headlights will be supported by ray-traced technology and shadow effects will be more realistic too. If you have a beast of a PC capable of running Overdrive Mode, then your eyes will be in for an absolute treat, to say the least.

Sharing the excitement of the added beauty that Overdrive Mode brings to the ever-vibrant Night City, Reddit user Aman690 shared a snippet of gameplay to wow fellow users in the thread.

“Cyberpunk has always looked incredible, but this is even better,” replied abbeast. “It’s funny how the game has gone from looking like a PS1 game on launch day (on PS4/XB1) to literally the best-looking game of all time and pushing the best GPUs in the world to their limits,” added a somewhat dramatic mr_blanket.

“CDPR were extra nice with this update considering they're gonna ditch the engine and switch to UE5 for future games,” said zuccoff.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020, and it’s an understatement to say that it launched in a poor state, especially on last-gen consoles. In fact, the game was so bad that Sony pulled it from the PS Store before it eventually made its triumphant return.

It’s great to see that Cyberpunk 2077 is finally living up to its potential and is closer to the game that we envisioned. As the old saying goes “Better late than never”, I suppose.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now for PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Its expansion, ‘Phantom Liberty’ is set to release this year and will star Edris Elba alongside the returning Keanu Reeves.
