Cyberpunk 2077's Elon Musk cameo is being absolutely rinsed

Despite its launch woes, Cyberpunk 2077 is now one of the most popular sci-fi RPGs in recent years.

In Cyberpunk 2077, you play as V and the corrupt world of Night City is your oyster as you climb the criminal ranks to perhaps become the most powerful person in the city, for better or worse. How you choose to climb those ranks is entirely up to you.

Sure, at launch, Cyberpunk 2077 was considered to be so bad that Sony pulled it from the PS Store until it was deemed worthy for sale. Yet, joining the ranks alongside No Man’s Sky, following a series of massive updates, Cyberpunk 2077 is an example of a once-doomed title rising from the ashes to fulfil its potential. Well, at least for the versions available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

As such, Cyberpunk 2077 has garnered a legion of fans and perhaps its most famous is controversial multi-billionaire, Elon Musk. In an article from Kotaku, Musk managed to bag himself a cameo after he wandered into a studio wielding a two-hundred-year-old gun, believed to be a Flintlock pistol. Because of course.

The story was revealed in a biography from Walter Isaac titled Elon Musk, in which he shadowed the billionaire for around two years to get an insight into the entrepreneur’s eventful life. At the time of recording lines for Cyberpunk 2077, Musk was dating Claire Elise Boucher aka “Grimes” who is the voice of Lizzy Wizzy.

When Musk reportedly showed up to the studio with a gun, Isaacson writes that the “guys [CD Projekt RED] were sweating,” but that didn't stop them from giving Musk his small cameo. I suppose if someone enters the room with a gun, what choice do you have? “I told them that I was armed but not dangerous,” Musk jokingly said to Isaacson.

The biography details that Elon Musk is a fan of Cyberpunk 2077, in some part due to how the game features cybernetic implants, which apparently reminded the billionaire of his own Neuralink company. Musk was also said to have referenced the movie Blade Runner and compared the car featured in a Cyberpunk 2077 trailer to his unreleased Telsa Cybertruck.

In related news, the Elon Musk biography also revealed that ex-girlfriend Amber Heard cosplayed as Mercy from Overwatch.
