Dark Souls: The Sunless City sounds like a must-play experience

Another Dark Souls adventure awaits those brave and willing enough to perish

You like pain. You must do to play Dark Souls, it’s one of the traits that defines all its players. Well, now you can experience the crushing blows of being defeated for yet another time, only in a more tangible format.

One could argue that Dark Souls is a palpable adventure, seeing as every knock back from a boss hits us where it hurts, our pride as wounded as our poor character on screen. However, it doesn’t have the same tactile nature of commanding a board that lies before you.

Dungeons and Dragons’ fans will know this all too well, having been singing the praises of tabletop games for years. However, for the less experienced among us, turning off the console to play our favourite titles is still a new concept.

Although it's not Dark Souls related, the new Judas gameplay trailer has a dark history waiting for you to discover it.

It’s one that we implore FromSoftware players to try for themselves in the must-play Dark Souls: The Sunless City experience. Up to three players can partake in this dungeon crawling epic, giving you the option to play as a Warrior, Pyromancer, or Herald as you come face to face with merciless bosses out for blood.

In the words of the Steamforged Games, the creators behind taking Dark Souls to the tops of tables once again, “Prepare to die”. As menacing as those words are, it ensures you don’t miss out on the high stakes that the video games bring within mere minutes of the opening scenes.

As we just mentioned, Dark Souls has a board game option already, which is what The Sunless City is based upon; it’s a revamped, updated version of what’s gone before. Should you be someone who already owns the original tabletop game, you won’t find many changes in this new adventure. Still, it makes for an exhilarating way to keep the burden of brutality alive when you’re away from your consoles.

Preorders for Dark Souls: The Sunless City are open now, with the game launching on 14 February. What a Valentine’s Day that’ll be!
