To infinity and beyond, right? Well after Buzz Lightyear’s obvious success as a main character in the Toy Story series of films, the character deserved his own delve into his very own movie. Disney now has released our first proper look at Lightyear, which will take Buzz to space and… beyond it seems.
As you may well know, in Toy Story, Buzz isn’t really an astronaut - he’s a toy. Shocker I know, sorry for the spoilers. But in this tale, he’s the real deal. As we hear David Bowie singing Starman in the background, I can’t help but feel this is going to be an incredible tale, and obviously because it’s Disney Pixar, it’s already looking gorgeous.

Lightyear is set to hit cinemas in Summer 2022. Under the trailer on YouTube it says: "Check out a brand-new trailer for Disney and Pixar’s “Lightyear,” an original feature film releasing June 17, 2022. The sci-fi action-adventure presents the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear, the hero who inspired the toy, introducing the legendary Space Ranger who would win generations of fans."

Chris Evans (Steve Rogers, not the radio host) is playing Buzz Lightyear and it will be directed by Angud MacLane - who has worked on every single Pixar release from A Bug's Life. He obviously knows Pixar's charm like the back of his hand, so we can't wait to see what he does with Lightyear.
What does make our head scratch though, is where it exactly fits into the Toy Story universe? Is this a real person in the world of Toy Story? Or is this a sci-fi action that is in that universe that inspired the toy? Maybe we'll find out but what I do know is that once Lightyear is out, I want a Western film for Woody.
