Disney Plus Is Adding A New Feature For Incoming Marvel Netflix Shows

Disney Plus Is Adding A New Feature For Incoming Marvel Netflix Shows

Disney have announced some new, updated parental control settings, which will be introduced to the platform later this month.

So, last month, it was announced that Netflix’s Marvel series', including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Daredevil, would be leaving the streaming service - as of yesterday, to be precise. Obviously they weren’t just vanishing into the void - the content is predictably on its way to Disney+.

Ahead of that though, it seems Disney is having to make a few changes to the service to help protect its younger audiences. Although parental controls were already a thing (obviously), there’s going to be some additions made to accommodate the more mature content which is set to find its new home there.

Already on Disney+ is Hawkeye - check out the trailer below.

“Beginning March 16, all Disney+ subscribers will be asked to update their Parental Controls. This includes the option to select content ratings restrictions for each profile, as well as to add a PIN to lock profiles, and enable a Kid-Proof Exit question for Kids Profiles,” Disney wrote in a statement. “When opening Disney+ for the first time on or after March 16, subscribers will be asked if they would like to change the content rating on each of their profiles from TV-14 up to TV-MA. Subscribers can also choose to add a PIN to their profile for additional protection.”

As reported by Collider, you’ll need to put in your password to change your account over to TV-MA, but once its done, you’ll have access to all of the content available on the platform. Reportedly, users will be able to create up to seven profiles with a rating applied, so households with kids of all ages should hopefully be able to make sure no one’s watching anything they shouldn’t be.

Assuming you’re an adult human reading this article who doesn’t have a troop of smaller humans in tow, this change will mean very little to you, apart from having to put in your password again (good luck remembering that), but it’s definitely a handy addition for any families to have at their disposal. It’s a couple of weeks before anything happens anyway, so you’ve got time to reset your password now if you’ve forgotten it. And then proceed to immediately forget it again. Look, we all know it’s going to happen.
