'Dying Light 2' Won't Take Anywhere Near 500 Hours To Finish, Don't Worry

Dying Light 2 won't take you hundreds and hundreds of hours to complete, fortunately, as developer Techland has clarified that the core story is the same length as God Of War, Mass Effect and The Surge.

Some of you out there might think that us lot at GAMINGbible play games all day. I am here to tell you that, astonishingly, that is not true. On occasion, we like to partake in a bit of shut-eye, or sustenance, or touching grass. So, the news that Dying Light 2 would comprise 500 hours of gameplay wasn't met with enormous enthusiasm from guides writers and reviewers. That's equivalent to playing the game for three weeks on the trot and, while we're sure that Techland has worked their bottoms off to ensure the game is a worthy successor to the acclaimed original, that doesn't appeal to me personally.

Here's Dying Light 2 gameplay for your consideration, featuring the dangerous yet lush world of the City that's populated by warring groups of survivors and relentless infected!

"500 hours is related to maxing out the game - finishing all the quests, endings, and exploring every part of the world," explained the developer following the divisive response to the announcement about the extensive amount of content. "But a regular player should finish the story and side quests, and do quite a lot of exploring in less than 100 hours, so don't worry!" Well, "less than 100 hours" is still a lot of hours to sink into a game, and although I won't name names, a fair few of us are still beavering away on our Steam backlogs.

Techland has now stated that the story will only span about 20 hours as the game has been "designed for players with different gameplay styles and preferences." For busybodies, it will take you 80 hours to finish the main story and all of the side quests. Finally, those who are the dictionary definition of "dedicated" will expect to expend 500 hours on the sequel in order to complete the story, all side quests, see the consequences of every choice and all possible endings, visit every location on the map, listen to every instance of dialogue and scoop up every collectible.
