'Dying Light 2: Stay Human' Is Half The Size On PS5 Versus PS4

Players who are hoping to play Dying Light 2: Stay Human day one have been preloading the game only to find the PS5 version is half the size

Dying Light 2: Stay Human is set for release in just two days and fans have been eager to get the game downloaded and ready to play on the day. Developer Techland put the fear into potential players when it claimed that the new game would feature five hundred hours of gameplay. However it backpedaled on that saying that the main story would take just twenty hours but completionists might want to spend a few hundred hours cleaning up.

With so much content reported potential purchasers were initially assumed that the file size would be vast. So many were pleasantly surprised when the PlayStation 4 file size was discovered to be a reasonable 51GB. This could in part be because Techland have planned to support its survival horror game for at least the next five years, with much of the content coming for free. The first five months of DLC has already been planned out, with a new set coming out every month

Now players have noticed something even more interesting while attempting to download Dying Light 2 so it is ready to play from the moment it's available. The PlayStation 5 version currently available for preloading is about half the size of the PS4 version at just 25GB. A screenshot of twitter user MaxHolten97's PlayStation account shows that Dying Light 2 could even be ready to play after downloading just 21GB of content.

.

It should be noted that Max's twitter claims they are in Australia which has one of the earliest time zones, which is maybe why they were one of the first to spot it. There could also be a number of reasons why the PS5 version appears smaller. Firstly, it could simply be that the current build available for PS5 is simply enough data to allow players to pre-load the game before launch. If this is the final file size it could also point to better compression techniques being used on the latest generation of hardware. Compression usually effects load times but with the PS5's improved processing power the extra compression may not effect load times.

Whatever the reason for the newest consoles diminutive data size players will probably find out when Dying Light 2 launches on Friday.
