'Elden Ring' Is Already One Of The Highest-Rated Games Of All Time

Oh lawd, you know what time it is. In less than 24 hours, Elden Ring will finally be in our hands, and it’s official now - it’s going to be a good one. FromSoftware’s latest (and seemingly greatest) game was first announced back in 2019, and has had everyone ridiculously hyped since.

Obviously though, we’ve been stung this way before. I’m sure I don’t need to remind you of the whole Cyberpunk 2077 launch situation - it was released in a ridiculous state, yes, but it felt even worse given how excited and hopeful everyone was for it. The phrase ‘please hype responsibly’ has never seen so much use since, but I'm now here to give you the go ahead to hype as irresponsibly as you could possibly desire, because Elden Ring’s reviews have finally come in, and they’re overwhelmingly positive. 

Currently on Metacritic, the game is sitting at an astronomically high 97/100. To put that into perspective, its score only falls behind The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, Grand Theft Auto IV and SoulCalibur, and stands side by side with the likes of Breath of the Wild, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Super Mario Galaxy. Needless to say, it’s quite good.

It’s safe to say that us lot here at GAMINGbible agree with its placement there, too. Our very own Ewan Moore gave Elden Ring our first 10/10 of the year in his review, saying that the “ambitious open-world successor to the Dark Souls series is maddeningly punishing, impossibly vast, and endlessly rewarding”, and that it’s also “FromSoftware’s best game to date; a modern masterpiece that will surely go down as one of the greats.”
