One 'Elden Ring' Player Has Already Beaten The Game In Under 50 Minutes

Just yesterday, we covered one Elden Ring player’s amazing achievement of completing the game, with no deaths, in just over two and a half hours. I don’t know about you, but my mind was blown. I know the whole point of a speedrun is to finish a game fast, but this is an incredibly difficult, 44-hour long game we’re talking about (cheers, HowLongToBeat). And it’s not even been two weeks since its release! It’s no mean feat at all.

Well, a few hours ago, another very talented player has managed to blow that time out of the water. Distortion2, a speedrunner who’s previously completed runs of Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2, has managed to complete an Any% run of FromSoftware’s latest in under 50 minutes. How? Just, how?

One thing that a lot of players have been struggling with in Elden Ring is the lack of a pause button, but did you know it is actually possible to pause without mods? Check out how in the video below.

“FIRST TO FINISH ELDEN RING IN UNDER 50 MINUTES,” the speedrunner wrote on Twitter, attaching a screenshot of the completed save file. “This game is going to probably go under 40 minutes.”

You can watch the whole thing below in all its glory, but be prepared to see a lot of spoilers, if you’ve not already finished the game yourself. If you can believe it, this was also Distortion2’s very first (speed)run of Elden Ring - while a lot of planning clearly went into it, the fact that they were able to pull it off so well on their first try is absolutely wild.

Viewers on YouTube have been left seriously impressed. “After just a week? Unbelievable[,] great job, finding a route in this massive game. How did you do that? You’re a true legend,” wrote BYFY Show. “Congrats! Holy[,] this is is good[,] can’t wait to see all the skips and glitches the speedsouls community finds,” commented Ricky al Ghul.

No doubt that these speedrun times are only going to get faster and faster as time goes on - need I remind you that the game hasn’t even been out for two weeks yet? The real question though, is when are we going to get our first blindfolded run? Surely that can’t be too hard, right? No, I won't be volunteering.
