Elden Ring player murders Melina just to see what happens

One Elden Ring player has discovered that it's possible to kill Melina very early in the game.

Elden Ring is over one year old now, if you can believe it. How time flies when you’re busy being impaled by a red-headed swordswoman over and over again.

Given how ridiculously huge the game is, it’s little wonder that players are still discovering new secrets after all this time. In fact, as TheGamer reports, one fan on Reddit has just found out that it’s possible to kill Melina very early in the game.

Take a look at some of Elden Ring’s most cursed mods below.

Melina is easily one of the nicest characters that players encounter in the Lands Between. After all, she’s the only person who can turn your Runes into strength and allow you to level up, and she’s also the one who gives you Torrent. Anyone who’s willing to gift you a sparkly magic horse is someone you should trust, if you ask me.

However, if you set things up correctly, it’s very possible to refuse her help in the cruellest way possible. Posted to the r/EldenRing subreddit by dyhrberg, it turns out that using the Fire’s Deadly Sin and Bloodflame Blade incantations will make poor Melina catch on fire when she starts speaking to you. Truly maidenless behaviour.

According to the user, doing this doesn’t actually affect the story in any way - she’ll pop right back up later on like nothing happened, so this is clearly a glitch that’s seemingly gone unnoticed up to this point. The cool death animation that plays can also be seen if you summon her to fight Morgott later in the game (something which many missed on their first playthroughs).

Good news for Elden Ring fans - more new content is coming soon. Just this week, it was announced that a DLC expansion titled Shadow of the Erdtree is in development. At the time of writing, we know very little about what the expansion will consist of, but if I was to guess, I’d say that we’d better prepare ourselves for some very tough battles.
