Elden Ring Reforged is a complete free overhaul that feels like a whole-new experience

The free Elden Ring Reforged overhaul mod is massive

Japanese studio FromSoftware is known for releasing absolute bangers over the years from Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and more.

Arguably, its best game to date is 2022’s Elden Ring. Set in the Lands Between, Elden Ring has everything that a fan of FromSoftware would want, a rich ‘not in your face’ story, deep combat, challenging enemies and gorgeous visuals. Not to mention that its open-world map encourages players to explore what may await around the next corner. In terms of being a perfect game, Elden Ring is certainly up there.

In our review, we said: “Elden Ring is a constantly surprising adventure that has taken FromSoftware’s tried-and-tested formula to delirious new heights. One of the best video games of the last decade, and an absolutely essential release”.

It’s likely that fans will be venturing into the Lands Between and making new discoveries for years to come, at least until Elden Ring 2 arrives after the highly anticipated expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree.

That being said, what if Elden Ring was made into an even better experience? That would be impossible, right? Well, not if modder the Kirnifr has anything to say about it. The mod that is today’s topic of discussion is ‘Elden Ring Reforged’ and it’s available to download now via Nexusmods for free.

So what does the ‘Reforged’ mod bring to Elden Ring roundtable? According to its description, it does a lot including revamping the deflect and magic mechanics, brings the ability to duck (not the bird), adds a new permanent progression system and the option to dye armour, improves the UI, features a new difficulty setting and modes, as well as boss resurrection and much more. It really is one of the most comprehensive mods that I’ve seen.

Elden Ring is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
