'Elden Ring' Will Extend "Beyond The Game Itself" Says Bandai Namco

If you are reading this article then it is safe to assume you are more than a little into the current cultural phenomenon that is Elden Ring.

Three weeks post-release and the latest FromSoftware open-world RPG is still very much the name on everyone's lips. Part of the reason for this is that the game is absolutely mind-bogglingly huge. Players were more than a little shocked when they found out that the whole map was around ten times the size of what was shown off in the beta.

Now, in the latest press release the company has announced that the fantasy take on the Soulsborne franchise has surpassed 12million copies sold. In it, president and CEO of Bandai Namco, Yasuo Miyakawa says the team are looking forward to expanding the game - and the brand - far further than where it currently reaches.

"Much effort was placed into creating Elden Ring so that we could exceed the expectations of our fans worldwide. In like manner, we will continue our efforts in expanding the brand beyond the game itself, and into everyone’s daily life."

While he doesn't explain what he means by his desire to expand the game into our daily lives, we can only predict that it means more content. Different kinds of merchandise seems a given at this level of popularity. Our fingers are crossed for some companion works such as DLC, art books and encyclopedias, or even the cheeky George R.R. Martin novel we've all been begging for.

Miyakawa seems to be looking at the opportunities available for the game right now, but wanted to send a message to everyone who has made Elden Ring so popular.

"We will continue to create enjoyment and fulfillment through entertainment, so that we can come closer and connect to our fans around the world."

Seems we're all going to be maidenless just a little while longer.
