Pokémon Fans Have A New Least Favourite Monster

Legends: Arceus has been out for just over a week now, and for the most part, players are really enjoying their adventures in the Hisui region. Its fresh, semi open-world take on the franchise has been a real hit, and the internet is currently drowning in funny clips of people’s escapades out in the region's wilds.

It’s not just the gameplay that’s seemingly changed a known precedent for the franchise, though. In fact, Arceus seems to have completely altered people's perceptions on the Pokémon themselves, namely, which ones are completely intolerable. Veterans players will undoubtably have always held on to a hatred of Zubat, purely because of how they plagued our journeys through every cave in the games, but oh how the tables have turned.

Before we go on, be sure to check out some of the best Legends: Arceus wins and fails below.

Say hello to Paras. This tiny little Bug/Grass type, first introduced in Red and Blue, would certainly seem harmless enough on the surface, right? I mean, just look into those big ol’ eyes. What a distinguished gentleman he must be. Wrong. So very wrong. You’re looking into the eyes of a cold-blooded monster with no morals.

It turns out that for some reason, Hisui's Paras population is just unreasonably aggressive. Who gave them the right? They’re one of the many wild Pokémon that are just out for blood, and will attack you with no remorse if you get too close. Unfortunately though, Paras can also inflict status effects on the player that prevent you from getting on a ride Pokémon to escape, prolonging the onslaught of pain. To make matters worse, these little bugs are everywhere - they make a not-so-welcome appearance in the majority of the game’s different areas, meaning you’re never too far away from being subjected to an unprompted attack.

As you’d imagine, these insufferable little creatures have inspired loads of great memes, which is at the very least one benefit to come from the whole situation. No doubt Pokémon fans are never going to look at Paras in the same way ever again.
